of Sisterhood & Service

LaTonya Conkleton

Aloha, e komo mai!

I'm pleased to welcome you to our home page on behalf of the AKAMAI women of Lambda Chi Omega Chapter, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated ® in Hawaii.  For over 45 years, since our local chartering on March 24, 1978, our chapter has served throughout the state and the Pacific Islands, bringing extensive training, experience and research to benefit local communities.  Our humble beginnings began as an interest group who have come to be called "AKAMAI" Women in the Hawaiian language, meaning "smart" women.  Today we are committed to continue the legacy of those who came before us though sisterhood, scholarship and service with a membership comprised of women with demonstrated leadership in professions which include medicine, education, law, business and finance, as well as public service at federal state and local levels. In 2022-2026, Alpha Kappa Alpha's International Program Initiatives will empower families, build economic wealth, uplift our community and enhance our environment. We look forward to serving and partnering with you as we Soar to Greater Heights of Sisterhood and Service!
